Beloved TV presenter Davina McCall is reportedly set to marry her boyfriend Michael Douglas of seven years after claims she secretly got engaged in the summer. The celebrity hairdresser is believed to have popped the question following their challenging year as Davina recovered from her life-saving brain operation. According to a close pal: "Everyone is so thrilled for them," and after she said "yes" the couple flew to the Burning Man festival in Nevada, US to celebrate after revealing their wedding plans only to their innermost circle.

This joyous news comes after a challenging few months for the former Big Brother host, who underwent a serious operation to remove a benign brain cyst last November. A source told The Sun: "To say it has been a rollercoaster year for her is an understatement. Whilst surgery was, of course, traumatic, she made peace with a lot in the days and weeks leading up to it."

The pal continued: "Then, having survived, she had a new lease of life - as so many do who have been in similar situations. Michael was her absolute rock throughout her recovery. If you see them together, genuinely, they are like lovesick teenagers."

Despite her vow to never marry again, the source claimed: "Basically, Davina thought 'f*** it, life is short', and decided it was time to, as the kids say, lock in the love of her life."

As for Davina's sparkler, the friend added: "She has a ring but is only wearing it in private. It is wonderful news, and everyone who knows them is just so thrilled; they really do make the most gorgeous couple."

Express.co.uk has contacted Davina's representatives for comment.

She and Michael first met in the early 2000s when he styled her hair while she was presenting on Big Brother.

They were initially friends for years, but sparks flew, and they began dating after her divorce from Matthew Robertson was finalised in early 2018.

This comes just weeks after Davina revealed that she had compiled a devastating "end of life checklist," had she not survived the brain operation.

Speaking at Fearne Cotton's Happy Place Festival, Davina said: "I needed to get my brain in the right place where I could be calm before the operation.

"I had to make sure that my kids were going to be OK if I did not make it. That is all I really cared about. I knew my partner, Michael, would be OK as he is a whole person, but I was really worried about my kids."

The star, who shares Holly, 23, Tilly, 21, and 18-year-old Chester with her ex, added: "I went into forensic thinking about my children and where they were at in their lives, what stage they were at. You are only happy as your unhappiest child."

She added: "But I realised that they would be great, they would miss me, and I want to be with them, but they would be fine.

"I felt I could go to sleep on the operating table and know that they were all here to help me, but I can let go of the outcome, and it was the best gift.

Davina revealed that in the end, her checklist came down to finding peace in the fact that her loved ones would survive without her.
