"I love wrestling the cover onto the duvet every week", said no one ever. If, like me, you dread the task of making sure the corners of your cover match with the duvet inside, and standing on top of the bed to shake it all out, a coverless duvet could be the answer to your wishes.
As the name suggests, they are duvets that come with an exterior lining attached, so there's no need for a duvet cover. They come in all different colours, patterns and designs, depending on your interior design style. Most also come with matching pillows.
And, of course, so they're fully washable. Just pop them in the machine and clean as usual. Given how much they'll speed up the process of making the bed, I think they'd make a great option if you have accident-prone children or simply want a guest bedroom ready quickly.
I recently spotted a lovely, versatile option at Dunelm. The Catherine Lansfield cosy cord coverless duvet is priced at £40 and is made from 100% polyester with a soft-touch cord finish. With a 6.5 tog, it's ideal for use all year round. Measuring 220 × 200 cm, it should fit comfortably on a double bed, and is available in three colours: natural, silver and navy.
In a review, one shopper praised how it sped up the process of making the bed. They said: "We love it, only a light tog but very cosy, bed made in seconds and no messing with a cover."
Another shopper praised how comfortable the bedding is. They wrote: "I'm snug as a bug, it's an excellent product. Looks and feels great. Will be great for the colder days ahead."
Another added: "I was apprehensive at first, but found it warm and cosy. Had a really good night's sleep since using it."
However, one person pointed out that the thickness of the duvet could be an issue when trying to squeeze it into your washing machine. They said: "It's lovely and cosy, feels so soft. Something to consider before you buy. I have a 10Kg washing machine and I just about squeezed it in. Might struggle washing it if you have a smaller-sized drum."
There are many options available on the market with different tog levels, so if the Catherine Lansfield coverless duvet is too light, there are plenty of others to choose from. Check out some alternatives below.
