Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin sparked the anger of social media users as they shared a car to reach the location of their historic summit. After landing in Anchorage, Alaska, the pair stepped out of their planes and came together to shake hands and pose for a photograph.
After the photo moment, they got in the same car to reach the military base, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, where the talks are taking place. But this move sparked the fury of some people on X, with social media users arguing it is helping to bring Putin out of his outcast status, which he's had since the invasion of Ukraine.
X user Ukraine Battle Map wrote: "Putin being driven around in the US Presidential Cadillac Limousine after murdering several hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and soldiers in Ukraine is a disgrace to America and all of NATO."
Another, called Really American, branded the move "utterly despicable".
Members of the Republican Party who oppose Donald Trump's leadership shared on their X account Republicans against Trump. Their message read: "Unbelievable. Vladimir Putin is riding in Trump's presidential limo to their meeting, with a big smile on his face."

Another X user, amuse, believes the US team made a mistake in allowing Putin to ride the car with the US President.
They wrote: "Trump's security would have never let him ride in Putin's car. Interesting Putin got right into the Beast."
Pictures seemingly showing US soldiers fixing the red carpet outside of Putin's plane before he walked down the stairs also angered some, with user Euan_MacDonald calling it a "Depressing and disgusting sight".
Analysing the moment, BBC Russia editor Vitaliy Shevchenko said: "The Russian president was signalling to his US counterpart that he trusts him - and likes him and his car. Putin was also all smiles, in sharp contrast with many years of animosity between the two countries. That's a very good opening move if you want to make whoever you're negotiating with trust you and believe you."
