BBC iPlayer is home to a masterpiece period drama, amongst many other popular historical dramas, which is based on a book from 1940.

The novel in question was described by author Agatha Christie as "the most difficult of her books to write".

The book is reported to be the world's best-selling mystery, and with over 100 million copies sold, it is one of the best-selling books of all time.

And Then There Were None was adapted into a TV series for BBC One back in 2015, and the three-part show stars the likes of Douglas Booth, Charles Dance, Aidan Turner and Anna Maxwell Martin.

The series is set in 1939, when eight individuals are brought together on the fictional Soldier Island, each suffering a terrifying fate.

And Then There Were None was the first in a series of Christie adaptations by Sarah Phelps for the BBC.

The adaptation received rave reviews from fans, with Caitlin B saying on Google Reviews: "A fascinating and sharp adaptation of Christie's work, with a stellar cast.

"Charles Dance, Burn Gorman, and Aidan Turner are particularly brilliant, though the entire ensemble are very established and class actors.

"This miniseries is one of the few to live up to the dark ending of Christie's novel, and for that it is well worth the watch. It plays like a psychological thriller, which is brilliant."

Fatima added: "It's intriguing, suspenseful and totally worth it! Sad that there are only three episodes but in a way I think it's better that way.

"The more they had tried to prolong it, the lesser suspense and story buildup we would've gotten at a very slow pace.

"I watched this in a single sitting at almost three in the morning and now, I keep thinking that someone is watching me, too.

"The point is, it's a brilliant story/show that has made my senses open enough to feel the presence of something that isn't even around me- if a show can do that to you, never let it go, I repeat, never let it go."

The series was filmed in Cornwall with locations including Holywell Bay, Kynance Cove, and Mullion Cove.
