Frozen fries are amongst everyone's favourite food. The popular food item is easily served in any gatherings or can be a perfect mood setter for a quiet evening when you want to relax with comfort food.

The easy-to-make food item is generally prepared using a simple technique and many people don't innovate with the recipe. However, cooking enthusiasts have revealed that adding one unusual ingredient to French fries will make it "taste so good", and people are left surprised. The ingredient was revealed on social media platform Reddit, where people share unique ingredients they use in different dishes.

One of the users said that adding Tarragon to the frozen fries gives wonderful results. The user wrote: "Tarragon. I use a tiny amount of it whenever I make fries, whether they're frozen or homemade. Not enough that you get flecks of green on every single fry - just enough to get the aroma. People always have a hard time figuring out why the fries taste so good."

Tarragon is a mild, earthy herb with a hint of liquorice flavour. Known as Artemisia dracunculus, it was once linked to the Greek goddess Artemis and used for medicine. Today, it's a flavourful addition to dishes like béarnaise sauce and chicken, though it's still not used as often as it deserves.

In France, tarragon is known as the "King of herbs," and just a light sprinkle over hot fries can bring out the rich, earthy flavour of the potatoes. If you are unsure about trying full-on tarragon fries, start small-add a pinch of fresh or dried tarragon along with salt to your oven-baked or deep-fried fries. As the heat releases its aroma, you will quickly notice the herb's unique bittersweet touch that makes ordinary fries feel gourmet.

However, it is crucial to use your seasoning wisely while sprinkling tarragon on your French fries.

One tablespoon of fresh tarragon is equivalent to one teaspoon of dried tarragon.

Fresh tarragon has a softer, more delicate taste with subtle layers of flavour that make it ideal for enhancing dishes without overpowering them. In contrast, dried tarragon loses much of that complexity during the drying process, resulting in a flatter, less fragrant version of the herb. Because of this, chefs often choose fresh tarragon when they want to capture its full aromatic potential.

However, fresh herbs can be tricky to use up quickly-especially if a recipe only calls for a small amount. To make your fresh tarragon last longer, you can store it in the refrigerator. Keeping it in an airtight container or wrapping it in a plastic bag helps preserve its freshness and flavour for several days. That way, you can enjoy its vibrant taste without waste.
