A 32-year-old British national, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the bloody rampage, is now being treated as the only suspect following a mass stabbing attack on an LNER train from Doncaster to London.
GB News was briefly interrupted on Sunday night to issue a breaking news alert following the horror events of the previous evening. Speaking on the Late Live Show, host Bev Turner, confirmed that one "hero" staff member was fighting for his life in hospital.
She was joined by former Surrey Police and Crime Commissioner, Kevin Hurley, who believes that recent incidents in Britain, following the Cambridgeshire train stabbing, are due to Government funding cuts for mental health support in a huge blow to Keir Starmer.
"It all stems from the governments to save money and to cut mental health funding," he claimed. "The mental health hospitals that once existed where you could keep people, who are a threat to us all, securely locked up, have all been closed to save money."
Kevin continued: "Everything is now sacrificed on the order of lets get these people back living in the community and give them anti-psychotic drugs.
"Of course, if those people won't take the drugs the sanctions and systems in place to make sure they do are probably not as strong as they would want them to be."
While terrorism has been ruled out, sources confirmed that the suspect had a history of mental-health issues and was known to the authorities.
After a second man arrested on the train was released without charge, British Transport Police (BTP) were last night holding a 32-year-old black British man, from Peterborough, on suspicion of attempted murder.
He is said to have begun his onslaught on Saturday minutes after boarding the train in his hometown, where the Doncaster to London King's Cross service arrived at 7.30pm.
Superintendent John Loveless of British Transport Police said the force "declared a major incident, and counter-terrorism policing were initially supporting our investigation. However, at this stage, there is nothing to suggest that this is a terrorist incident".
