It's that time of the year again when Christmas adverts are coming out thick and fast. The much-anticipated adverts for supermarket giants Sainsbury's and Asda are now out - and one is a clear winner for me.
Asda's Christmas advert takes the crown with a familiar character - The Grinch. The advert features a catchy familiar song and makes a nod to the cost of living crisis.
For many, the advert will be relatable with the festive season often very costly. But it still manages to keep the light-hearted festive cheer.
To a reworked version of classic hit "Let it Snow", the Grinch, who represents a grumbling dad fed up with the prices of things, eventually discovers the joy of the season.
It comes as hit movie The Grinch marks 25 years of first being released, with the film going on to become a Christmas classic for many families.
As for Sainsbury's advert, this also features a popular and well known figure - the BFG.
The feel-good advert sees the BFG team up with a new Sainsbury's colleague, Annie, to replenish festive food with the new Taste the Difference Christmas range after the arrival of a hungry unexpected guest.
The advert captures the magic of a BFG inspired Christmas with the debut of its new festive advert.
Following on from the successful and much-loved partnership last year, the latest instalment is a true Christmas caper, which sees the beloved BFG character team up with new Sainsbury's colleagues.
Together they navigate the arrival of an unexpected guest, The Greedy Giant, to ensure every plate remains full.
The advert is a warming festive tale but for me, Asda's grinch story hits the mark for this year.
Asda said that contrary to conventional Christmas approaches, the campaign remains rooted in the supermarket's ongoing strategy, That's Asda Price, which is "built around delivering low prices to hard-working families who demand value - even more so during the festive season."
