Three people have been injured and more than 200 tourists evacuated from a hotel in Ibiza due to a rockslide.

There was major panic in the Puig des Molins area of Ibiza when part of the mountain fell away suddenly, which has caused pieces of rock to directly hit two hotels that the Vibra Hotels chain has in the area. Many of the shocked hotel guests were seen to be in tears.

As confirmed by Ibiza City Council, two injuries were initially reported as the island was battered by the heaviest rain in years. The 061 emergency service has since raised the number of injuries to three.

Firefighters, Ibiza Local Police, National Police and the 061 health services are on the scene.

According to reports from the Vibra Hoteles chain to the Ibiza and Formentera Newspaper, approximately 220 tourists have been evacuated and will be relocated to hotels in Platja d'en Bossa due to its proximity.

According to Diario de Ibiza: "The collapse of part of the slope of a mountain on two floors of the HT Vibra Tropical Garden hotel has caused four people to be trapped on several floors (three of them slightly injured), who have had to be rescued by firefighters, as reported by SAMU/061. The rocks have collapsed on two floors of the hotel as a result of the floods. After the medical intervention, one injured person has been evacuated and the other two affected have been treated on site by the 061 emergency services. A fourth person has been unharmed."

SAMU061 units, two Basic Life Support units and two Advanced Life Support units have been deployed to help the firefighters evacuate patients trapped in the hotel. After the medical evaluation, one injured person has been evacuated to the Nuestra Señora del Rosario Polyclinic and the other two injured have been treated and discharged at the scene. The collapse occurred at 6:22 p.m.

The hotel is located at Calle de Ramón Muntaner 78 in Ibiza.

The president of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, travelled to Ibiza this afternoon together with the president of the Consell, Vicent Marí, from Palma, where both attended the plenary session of the Balearic Parliament this morning. Both presidents and the mayors of the island of Ibiza have summoned the press at half past eight in the evening at the Fire Station, to provide information on the emergency operation established in the face of the rains and storms that have been affecting Ibiza since last night.
