Christian Horner is sure to have plenty of free time to spend with his wife Geri Halliwell at the moment after being relieved of his Red Bull duties earlier this year. The 51-year-old is said to have agreed an £80million severance package with Red Bull after spending two decades with the Milton Keynes-based F1 team.

Horner was instrumental during two periods of dominance for Red Bull, with the Englishman overseeing Sebastian Vettel's four-year Drivers' Championship winning streak between 2010 and 2013, before helping Max Verstappen win four titles in a row between 2021 and 2024. But he was axed by the team in July, with Laurent Mekies replacing him. He will no doubt be hoping to relax and recharge his batteries alongside his wife in the coming months. And Express Sport takes a look at Horner's life away from the sport he loves.

The Horner marriage

Horner and Geri got engaged towards the end of 2014, with the couple tying the knot at a lavish ceremony in Bedfordshire the following year.

The wedding was attended by F1 icons David Coulthard and Sir Jackie Stewart, as well as celebrities such as Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. The singer's fellow Spice Girl Emma Bunton also attended as guests celebrated the union.

Halliwell, who is also an author, took Horner's surname when they got married but then introduced herself as Geri Halliwell after filming a video for designer label Dior last year. Later, she insisted she hadn't legally reverted to her maiden name and was just using it as a writing name.

Family decision

Following his Red Bull exit, Horner and his wife made a family decision to embark on a road trip around Scotland.

They have been planning the trip for years and are referring to it as their honeymoon, despite the fact more than 10 years have passed since their wedding day.

The couple are set to visit the Isle of Skye for the first time in their lives when they visit Scotland. But they may need to book their trip in the near future as Horner will be allowed to work for another F1 team in the next nine months, according to reports.

Net worth

Horner and Geri's combined net worth was already enormous before the Red Bull payout, thanks to their endeavours during their respective careers.

The couple are said to have a joint net worth of £440m, with Halliwell earning plenty of money from her hit singles and acting roles as well as her writing.

Horner, who earned £8m a year with Red Bull, is said to be worth £36m on his own, but that figure will increase once his payout comes in.
