Kiambu County plane crash: Six dead in as jet smashes into home

A plane crash in a residential area of Ruiru, Kiambu County, Kenya has resulted in at least six fatalities and two injuries. The aircraft, a Cessna Citation XLS, was owned by AMREF Flying Doctors, an organisation offering "fixed-wing air ambulance services" across Africa. The cause of the crash, which had four individuals onboard at the time, remains unknown.

The Kiambu County Commissioner confirmed that two doctors, two nurses, and two members of the public were among the victims. AMREF Flying Doctors CEO Stephen Gitau stated, "At this time, we are cooperating fully with relevant aviation authorities and emergency response teams to establish the facts surrounding the situation.

The Cessna departed from Wilson airport in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, at 2:17pm, en route to Hargeisa, Somalia when the tragedy occurred.

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the National Police Service were dispatched to the scene and are currently engaged in rescue operations.

Investigations into the crash are still underway.
