The Royal Household has listed on its official website a new job listing for a Royal Engagements Officer, who will work within the Private Secretary's Office at Buckingham Palace.

The job offers a fixed-term contract for one year, starting from November 2025 until November 2026. The person will earn £40,000 a year and work 37.5 hours a week from Monday to Friday.

Other responsibilities include organising domestic and overseas official visits, as well as audiences at royal residences and speeches.

According to the listing, the lucky candidate will be responsible for planning ad delivering various engagements by the King, as well as joint engagements by the King and Queen.

The King is looking for an individual who has excellent project management and organisational skills, boasts a problem-solving aptitude, and is "adept at absorbing and rapidly assimilating often complex and nuanced material".

Job seekers need to be able to "communicate a large volume of information succinctly with meticulous attention to detail" and thrive in a "fast-paced, dynamic environment".

General knowledge of current affairs, nationally and internationally, a well-developed knowledge of the UK and Commonwealth, and an understanding of the political, economic, geographical infrastructure, the constitution, and the British media "would be an asset," according to the job listing.

Benefits include 25 days of annual leave, which can rise to 30, plus bank holidays, an "excellent" pension scheme, and free meals while on duty.

Those seeking to apply for the job have until 11.55pm on August 31 to send in their CVs.
