The British period drama A Room With A View is based on the novel by EM Forster and has been highly praised by fans, who will be thrilled it's streaming on Apple TV. The film stars award-winning actors such as Helena Bonham-Carter, the late Dame Maggie Smith, Judi Dench and Daniel Day-Lewis.

The plot centres around an English woman named Lucy Honeychurch (played by Helena) who is touring Italy with her older cousin, Charlotte (Dame Maggie). When they are in a hotel in Florence, Lucy meets a charming man named George Emerson (Julian Sands).

While she's interested in him, she wonders whether she should settle down with a wealthy man named Cecil Vyse (Daniel) when she returns home. However, George later returns to Lucy's life, and she has to decide between the two men.

The period piece has been hailed as a "masterpiece" by fans who have given it a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating.

One penned: "This is about perfect as a movie can be, from the opening credits to the very end. I was escorted to Europe by my aunt when I was about Lucy's age, and it all rang true despite the many years between our Tours.

Another said: "The word I keep coming back to is EXQUISITE. From its lush cinematography to its captivating performances to its spellbinding musical score, there isn't a moment in which it isn't running full throttle."

A third shared: "Every character was perfect. Fussy aunt; wild brother; mischievous vicar; every single young Italian man. And when I realised later that Daniel Day-Lewis was the fiancé, I was just tickled. He was perfectly hilarious!"

Meanwhile, a viewer added: "An exceptionally well-cast movie. It's a great book as well. I think it is the first hippie book. The theory underlying the book is that love is the most important thing in relationships. Not financial security, class alignment, approval of the families, etc."

A Room With a View is available to watch on AppleTV.
