Dubbed the Australian version of Yellowstone, it's no wonder Western fans have been raving about another series that is available to stream on Netflix. Released in 2024, Territory centres on the Lawson family, owners of one of the world's largest cattle stations, and their struggles after the station is left without an apparent heir. With his son dead, family patriarch Colin (Robert Taylor) must select a new successor for the station - but none of the available candidates meet his expectations. His choices include his alcoholic son Graham (Michael Dorman), Graham's wife, Emily (Anna Torv) who comes from a rival cattle-thieving family, and their children, Marshall (Sam Corlett) and Susie (Philippa Northeast).

Emily steps up to run Marianne Station in the wake of Daniel's death, but Robert merely sees her as a gold-digger. Set in the unforgiving Australian outback, the six-part series documents the family's struggles against others vying for control over Marianne Station, from rival cattle barons, desert gangsters and billionaire miners.

Led by a cast of established and rising Australian stars, Territory also features Kylah Day, Jay Ryan, Clarence Ryan and Sara Wiseman.

Despite being well-received by audiences and pulling in positive viewing figures, Territory was cancelled after just one series. This hasn't stopped fans from sharing their glittering reviews online, with one branding the series "the best to come out of Australia".

One wrote: "I recently watched Territory on Netflix, and I have to say, it exceeded all expectations! This drama is a well-crafted masterpiece, blending suspense, emotion, and stellar storytelling in a way that keeps you glued to the screen from start to finish. What makes Territory stand out is its ability to balance drama and tension while exploring meaningful themes. It's not just about the plot twists (though there are plenty!) but also about the human connections and personal growth throughout the series. If you're looking for a thought-provoking, emotional rollercoaster with outstanding production value, Territory is a must-watch. Netflix has truly delivered one of its finest dramas yet! Highly recommended!"

A second declared: "This was absolutely the best Australian miniseries I've ever seen! So intense! So cinematic. So well acted by all of its cast and a story with so many twists and turns. No spoilers here. Just in awe of how well that was made. I've heard people comparing it to similar American series.. But because I don't watch American series.. I don't need to. This is stand alone the best series to come out of Australia in my whole 45 years on earth as far as I'm concerned."

A third agreed: "A very gritty story of life on a station in Australia. Life is hard and the strong survive, both the cattle men and the indigenous people who have lived in the outback for millions of years. If you are a fan of Yellowstone TV series, you will definitely enjoy this saga. Actors were wonderful in the depth of their characters. A definite must-see."

Echoing this, another said: "Territory is a captivating series that pulls you in with its well-crafted storyline and stellar character performances. The plot is incredibly engaging, keeping you on the edge of your seat as each episode unfolds. What truly sets this series apart is how every character is fleshed out, with each actor delivering a powerful and believable performance. The cast's dedication brings a level of realism and intensity that makes you feel deeply connected to their journeys."
