Netflix viewers have just discovered a series that has been branded a "hidden gem". Australian comedy series Fisk first aired in 2021, and has since had three seasons with the most-recent premiering in 2024.
Co-created and co-written by comedian Kitty Flanagan, she stars as Helen Tudor-Fisk, who returns to her hometown in Melbourne and joins a small legal firm after her career and marriage have fallen apart. Fisk ends up working at Gruber & Gruber, which is run by siblings Ray and Roz and specialises in probate law and wills.
The cast also includes Marty Sheargold, Julia Zemiro, Aaron Chen, Glenn Butcher and John Gaden.
The synopsis teases: "Family feuds. Money squabbles. Wobbly furniture. A no-nonsense lawyer joins a low-rent wills and probate firm after her marriage and career implode."
The award-winning show, which won five Logies for every category it was nominated for in 2025, has become a huge hit with fans, and been rediscovered after several shared it as a "hidden gem" series on Reddit.
One fan praised: "This show is pure comedy gold. Genius. A long time after Seinfeld, a show that is pure entertainment. Even with Seinfeld, there were some booooring episodes. But every episode in Fisk is a gem. I have never heard of or seen any of the actors, since I don't see any Australian shows. But the talent here is unbelievable. I ran into this when I was looking for some comedies; I am going slow so I don't run out of episodes too soon!!"
Another said: "I absolutely love this show! I am watching Season 2 at the moment. I laughed so much last night the tears were running. The humor is brilliant. Fisk and those brown suits!!! I really recommend this series. It is more than I expected and all the characters make for a really good show. Very original and something different to the crime tv shows I tend to watch most of the time."
Someone else echoed: "What a gem of a series! It's like an Australian version of the Office. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about it. The cast, acting and story lines are just bang on. I hope that I can look forward to more seasons of this fabulous series. Bravo, Australia!"
One fan added: "Absolutely brilliant. Nothing that I have ever seen on TV. The acting is phenomenal. There seems not much of a comedy but the mare presentation of the events and characters make it absolutely hilarious. Worth a watch. Wish they make more seasons. Extremely addictive stuff."
Another fan compared it to classic sitcom The Office, writing: "It is an Australian version of the office with Ricky Gervais without the pretense of a documentary. It has some funny moments. If you like Ricky Gervais or that subtle situation humor then you would like this."
When the third season launched, it broke records in Australia, becoming the all-time highest-rated episode of any non-children's show on ABC.
Creator Kitty previously spoke about the show's international success, telling ABC News: "When people message me from Canada or India or wherever it is around the world and say they're loving Fisk, I think, 'Oh my God, that's fantastic'."
She added: "I guess the world is realistic and relatable. The characters in our show obviously exist the world over, even if they have a different accent or speak a different language."
