Plane crash horror as huge plume of smoke fills the air - 'multiple vehicles on fire'

A plane has crashed in Tarrant County, Texas, just north of Hicks Airfield. Horror footage and pictures from the area show a black plume of smoke rising from the scene, amid as reports emerged of multiple vehicles being on fire in the area.

The plane struck the ground and collided with multiple vehicles, including several tractor-trailers, sparking a fire and producing heavy black smoke visible for miles, according to local media. Footage on social media showed thick, heavy black smoke was seen billowing from an industrial area shortly after the crash, with multiple fire trucks and emergency services on the scene. It is currently unclear how many casualties, if any, have been caused by the incident.

A Tarrant County Sheriff's Office spokesperson confirmed there was a crash near the airport, but said no other details are currently available. The plane appears to have hit 18-wheelers and trailers, the Fort Worth Fire Department told CBS News.

It is understood that the plane was a Cirrus SR22 wihch has capacity for one pilot and four passengers, although it remains unclear how many people were on board at the time of the crash.

Hicks Airfield is a private airport located about 16 miles north of Fort Worth, Texas.
