Meghan Markle "needs Harry" to stay relevant and make a success of her own business ventures. Since stepping back from her royal duties five years ago, the Duchess of Sussex has attempted to achieve commercial success through a range of avenues, including a lucrative deal with Netflix.
Despite this, Meghan has continued to criticise her brief stint in the Royal Family after marrying Prince Harry, most recently suggesting the couple needed time to "heal" in the US after quitting their roles. Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, suggested the mum-of-two's business instinct and her royal links are heavily connected. "Without the royal tag, people are not interested," Ms Seward told . "She needs Harry. Harry obviously needs and loves her. She needs Harry because without [him], who is she? Just another person trying to flog their makeup or their food. She has to stand out from the crowd." Before marrying the Duke of Sussex in 2018, Meghan made a name for herself both as an actor, being in the Suits TV show lineup, and as a humanitarian. She also founded and ran with success a lifestyle website, The Tig.
