Tony Martin can revisit the Newcastle winners' podium by landing the JenningsBet Northumberland Plate with Zanndabad (Nap, 3.15).

Last year he celebrated success in the Northumberland Vase with Alphone Le Grande, even though Cathy O'Leary, his sister, held the licence while Martin served a suspension.

Martin, who later apologised for his presence, has prepped Zanndabad via two runs over hurdles and a run in an Ebor qualifier at the Curragh earlier this month.

He is now down to the same 92 handicap mark off which he finished an unlucky third in last year's Chester Cup where he was a length behind Zoffee.

Contacto (2.40) showed a step up to 2m could open new avenues when staying on at Goodwood last time and is the selection in the consolation Vase.

Group 1-winning sprinter KIND OF BLUE (2.10) should be too good for his rivals in the Chipchase Stakes.

Put a line through his comeback when he reared and completely missed the break at Chantilly yet still only finished six lengths behind the winner.

DURHAM CASTLE (1.40, nb) will be a popular pick with the locals and should give them plenty to shout about. The winner of three of his last four races is climbing the ranks and can take another step up the ladder in the opener. RARE CHANGE (3.45), also three wins from four, can land the 7f handicap.

At York FORMAL (2.25) can secure a first Group success under Oisin Murphy in the Criterion Stakes.

The ex-Sir Michael Stoute trainee's Surrey Stakes winning at Epsom enjoyed a boost by the runner-up, Saqqara Sands, scoring at Listed level at Carlisle this week.

CADARN (1.55) can complete a hat-trick in the 1m handicap while AZURE ANGEL (3.00) can follow up a Redcar win seven days ago in the 5f handicap.

In Ireland, Andrew Balding's filly KALPANA (3.30) is the star attraction in the Paddy Power Pretty Polly Stakes.

She ended last year with three wins in a row, culminating in victory in the Group 1, and, back against her own sex, should be sharper for a comeback third in the Tattersalls Gold Cup to have the measure of Oaks runner-up Whirl at the Curragh.
