Stranger Things season 5 trailer song hints at tragic deaths with hidden meaning

The much-anticipated trailer for the fifth season of Stranger Things has finally landed, and it's safe to say that excitement for the return of the Netflix sensation is at an all-time high.

The final season of the wildly popular supernatural horror series will see a climactic showdown between Eleven (portrayed by Millie Bobby Brown) and Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).

Fresh footage from the concluding episodes hints at the comeback of fan-favourite characters such as Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), although many mysteries remain shrouded in secrecy.

Maintaining its reputation for an outstanding 80s soundtrack, the latest Stranger Things trailer features Queen's legendary 1986 hit Who Wants to Live Forever.

While it might be tempting to think the song was selected merely for Freddie Mercury's powerful vocals, the track holds some significant hidden meanings that could tie into the plot and themes of Stranger Things' exhilarating final instalment, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Penned by Brian May, the song is one of six tracks from their album A King of Magic that appeared in the cult fantasy film Highlander, which starred Christopher Lambert as an immortal Scottish warrior.

After witnessing the love of his life succumb to old age, Connor MacLeod is condemned to roam the Earth eternally without her, a heartbreaking destiny explored in the lyrics of Queen's emotive ballad.

Mercury's lyrics emphasise the significance of seizing the day, crooning "Who dares to live forever / When love must die?" and "Who wants to live forever? / Forever is our today".

The song selection not only adds another nod to a cherished 1980s film, but it could also hint at some foreboding events leading to significant character deaths.

It's possible that one or more characters might be compelled to make the ultimate sacrifice, much like fan-favourite Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) did in the last series, to protect those they care about.

However, for the time being, the trailer for Stranger Things season five remains tight-lipped, offering little more than the assurance of a gratifying conclusion for millions of Netflix enthusiasts' beloved characters.

The summary for the concluding episodes states: "The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna.

"But he has vanished - his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine.

"As the anniversary of Will's disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. To end this nightmare, they'll need everyone - the full party - standing together, one last time."

Stranger Things season 5 part 1 will be released Wednesday, 26th November on Netflix followed by part 2 on 25th December and the final episode on 31st December.
