NFL pundit Terry Bradshaw made a fleeting cameo with the FOX NFL Kickoff team ahead of Sunday's fixtures getting underway. The experienced analyst, who contemplated stepping down this summer, has been with FOX since 1994. The FOX NFL Kickoff squad saw departures of regular contributors Peter Schrager and Michael Vick to ESPN and coaching duties respectively.
Presenter Charissa Thompson is working alongside Charles Woodson and Julian Edelman this term, although Drew Brees stepped in for the latter on this occasion. Thompson reassured Bradshaw that he was 'always welcome' with her team after he complained that his usual colleagues Curt Menafee, Rob Gronkowski, Howie Long and Michael Strahan were always mean to him.
"I told Drew that your horse won last week and you can see him at the Breeders' Cup," Thompson told Bradshaw, who replied: "I know, he's right around the corner and he's invited."
Thompson responded: "Well, you're invited over to our show anytime. We'd love to have you."
"At least you're nice to me," said Bradshaw, before gesturing towards his team in the corner and adding: "That bunch over there."
"They're not nice?" Thompson enquired, with Bradshaw replying: "Not at all."
Brees is standing in for Edelman this week because the former wide receiver is getting inducted into the New England Patriots' Hall of Fame at Gillette Stadium. Brees was with NBC last season and commentated on a playoff match for the broadcaster in 2021.
He reckons he merits another opportunity in the commentary box, saying in August: "I chuckle because even as I look at the landscape right now, I mean, I have so much respect for a lot of guys in the booth right now.
"But I'd step in the booth right now and be a top-three guy, like, without question. And then you give me a few years and I could be the best."
Thompson opened up about the alterations to her show during the offseason, confessing she was 'bummed' that both Schrager and Vick departed, but is thrilled to welcome a new team.
"So, it's Jules [Edelman] and I and Charles Woodson," she revealed. "And so, we'll find out a little bit more closer to the football season, sort of the structure and the rundown, and kind of how we want to frame that show.
"I think it's a new beginning, so as we're hitting our stride at Amazon, we're kind of starting back over at FOX, which is also excited because that means that there are new opportunities to do different things on that show."
