The Chase fans were left screaming at their screens during the final chase after one player suffered a devastating round. During Tuesday's visit (August 12) to the ITV studios, Bradley Walsh welcomed four new hopefuls onto the teatime show. He introduced Ian, Casey, Nicola, and Wayne to viewers at home before they put their general knowledge to the test.

This week, the quartet went up against Mark 'The Beast' Labbett who certainly brought his A-game. First up to the podium was Ian who wowed viewers with his impressive skills after scoring an impressive £8,000 in the cash-builder round.

But the player buckled during the head-to-head and was quickly sent packing after just four questions. Next up was Casey, who also imoressed the former Coronation Street star with his general knowledge after he collected £5,000 in the cash-builder.

Unfortunately, Casey followed in her teammate's footsteps and was sent home empty-handed after they failed the make it through to the final chase against the pro-quizzer.

Hoping to break the cycle, Nicola took on the challenge and noticeably struggled during the cash-builder round, only managing to make £2,000. But despite the odds, Nicola managed to beat the Chaser and secure her place in the final chase.

Finally, Wayne took on the challenge and earned a respectable £4,000 in the cash-builder round. But like many of his fellow teammates, he was caught out by the Chaser, leaving Nicola to take him on alone in the final round.

Before going into the final round, The Beast advised her to "focus on answering the question that Bradley gives you" but when it came to the final round she buckled under the pressure.

Nicola managed to successfully answer just four questions in the final round, skipping "obvious questions" such as "What 16th century Armada was nicknamed the Espanial Armada?"

After a disappointing round, she chuckled: "I think it's fair to say I might get caught" and the player wasn't wrong with the player soon being caught out by The Beast within just 20 seconds.

It didn't take long before fans flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter - to share their fury online, with one user posting: "that was the worst team I've ever seen" as another agreed: "I actually feel dumber from watching that episode [face palm emoji]."

A third echoed: "Never ever have I seen such a failyre... 2k in the pot! ... Only 5 wuestions to be answered! Done in 20 seconds! Shocking" as another agreed: "Shocking final chase."

Meanwhile others were quick to offer sympathy to the player, with one user writing: "It's easy to criticise when you're sat at home, it won't be so easy when you're on the show." Another agreed: "It's a brave thing to do on your own, Nicola. Best wishes." The Chase airs on weekdays from 5pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
