ITV star Bradley Walsh made a surprise admission after forgetting the name of a star-studded contestant during the latest episode of Beat the Chasers. The 65-year-old who famously fronts The Chase returned to screens on Sunday (September 8) for the game show's spin-off when his own memory failed the test. As Ruby from Bristol went up against Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, Darragh Ennis and Mark Labett, the presenter was forced to hilariously admit: "I don't know what day it is."
This came after the player was quizzed: "Which lyric from the song Jingle Bells forms the title of an Arnold Schwarzenegger film?" The options were "Dashing through the snow," "Jingle all the way," or "Oh, what fun it is." Ruby successfully guessed "Jingle all the way" and won £3000, pushing her closer to the prize fund. As the studio audience erupted with applause, this brief victory prompted Sinnerman to reveal: "It's Jamelia's favourite film," and much to his surprise, a confused Bradley responded: "Who?"
The presenter repeated: "Who's favourite?" Prompting Paul to reply: "The singer Jamelia." As Bradley continued to stutter in confusion, the chaser blasted: "You didn't say 'Who's Jamelia' when she played on the Christmas chase and stood next to you."
Bradley then turned to the laughing studio audience and confessed: "I don't know what day it is. I tell you, I'm just like a bumbling fool going through life, I don't know how I've made it this far."
Before continuing with the game show, he joked: "Now I'm in my 40s, it's very difficult to remember things."
Jamelia, who topped the charts with her singles Superstar and Thank You in the early 2000s, was featured on the celebrity spin-off of The Chase in 2012.
As part of the charitable Text Santa special, she competed alongside Lorraine Kelly, Craig Charles and Dom Joly with Paul as their Chaser and went on to win £20,000 for charity.
This comes after Bradley revealed that he's becoming more "belligerent" as he gets older and doesn't agree to things he doesn't want to do. The 65-year-old is still busier than ever with a packed schedule, though he admits he tries to have as much time off as possible.
Speaking on his four-decade career, he said: "People say to me 'you never stop working', but here's the thing, and I tell every young performer this, 'if you enjoy the job you do, you will never do a day's work in your life'.
"It's as simple as that. I try and have as much time as I possibly can off, but I just love what I do," the star added to My Weekly magazine.
