Thomas Tuchel has placed his squad on high alert before England's crucial fixture in Serbia. He acknowledges they could encounter their most demanding fixture in this qualifying campaign due to the scorching atmosphere expected in Belgrade. Tuchel has also warned his players to remain mindful of the risks surrounding bookings and dismissals amid the intimidating noise against their nearest rivals in Group K.

Serbia have already been handed a partial stadium ban - 15 per cent of the 51,000 capacity will remain shut - as sanctions for racist conduct during their World Cup qualifier against Andorra in June. Tuchel highlighted the playing surface as another potential concern, though the Rajko Mitic Stadium is equally infamous for its deafening and raucous environment.

Tuchel said: "We will get the headlines ready. It will be an emotional crowd I guess.

"We will have to adapt to the adversity and overcome adversity and let's see what the pitch is like, how the game plays out. You never know, you can have red cards, yellow cards, whatever.

"It will be a good test and we're looking forward to it. We feel that we are ready to step up to the atmosphere, the physicality and it will be an emotional, very important game in the group. We will be prepared for that.

"In any match it can happen. We will prepare for the best version of our opponent and adapt to what is coming.

"Maybe we get an early goal or two and it's a comfortable win. Or maybe we concede from a set piece or deflected shot - anything can happen.

"We need to be ready for everything. We will face the same formation, the defensive block of 5-4-1 with individual quality up front with tall physical strikers."

It comes after England struggled to impress in their 2-0 victory over minnows Andorra on Saturday evening.

Tuchel picked out three players for criticism after the final whistle at Villa Park, saying: "It's difficult because it's a very different crowd to a Premier League crowd.

"I think the energy was right, the quality was there and we should've scored more. After the first goal we had 10 or 15 minutes with too many ball losses and lost our focus and concentration but the second half, we found it again and should have scored more.

"I think we missed the little moments to accelerate the game. Maybe Ebz [Eberechi Eze] didn't have his best day in the number 10.

"The last pass from Noni Madueke wasn't clinical enough and Marcus Rashford had good moments but couldn't finish them."
