A recall has been issued for six models of air fryer sold across the country, available in Argos, B&M, Sainsbury's and Tesco stores. Tower, the manufacturer, has posted a message on its website, assuring customers that they are its "top priority" and alerting them to a "potential issue" with certain models of their air fryers.

Products are typically recalled due to safety concerns, defects or regulatory non-compliance, among other reasons. In the UK, The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) regularly recalls products for reasons including safety and manufacturing faults. A warning on the OPSS website states: "The product presents a risk of fire as it can overheat and ignite during use. The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016."

The government department further advises: "The product has been recalled from end users. Owners of affected products should stop using the product immediately and unplug it."

Tower declared: "Your safety is our top priority. We recently identified a potential issue with certain Tower air fryer models and are conducting a voluntary recall to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality.", reports the Liverpool Echo.

"If you own an affected model we're here to make the process as simple as possible. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions in the following pages to confirm if you have an affected model, and if so what replacement options are available to you." If you own a Tower-branded Air Fryer, you'll need to check the rating label located at the bottom of your appliance. You will also need access to a phone to take a photo of the rating label and your email, telephone and address details.

The models affected include the T17023 Tower 2.2Ltr Manual Air Fryer, T17061BLK Tower 4Ltr Manual Air Fryer, T17067 Tower 4Ltr Digital Air Fryer, T17087 Tower 2Ltr Compact Manual Air Fryer, T17129L Tower Vortx 8L Air Fryer and T17129 Tower Vortx 8L Air Fryer.

A recall affecting Tower Air Fryers has been in place for several months, but the warning has recently been extended to include more products. Six black Tower Air Fryer models manufactured between January 2022 and April 2023 are now part of the recall.
