The UK is preparing to bask in a mini-heatwave in October as temperatures shoot up to 22C. New weather maps by WXCHARTS, which uses MetDesk data, have revealed the weather is due to massively improve on October 2 from the current cold weather conditions.
For a five-day period until October 6, the country is expected to see temperatures hover between highs of 14C and 22C - much warmer than the October average of 10C. Next Thursday, the mini-heatwave will swoop in from the South East of England, mainly affecting areas along the coast such as Essex and Kent. The following day temperatures will remain much the same, at high of around 22C in the South East, but the South West will also start to warm up, reaching 21C.
As it gets into the weekend, the weather will continue to improve across more of England, including North Lincolnshire and Yorkshire - where it could hit 21C.
Elswhere in the UK, it's due to be slightly milder, but still an improvement on what is typical for October.
In the North of England and Scotland, WXCHARTS has forecast temperatures between 14C and 19C, with a colder 9C expected in the Highlands.
However, the Met Office long range forecast for September 27 until October 6 reads: "An uncertain period but on balance we are likely to see a change from the settled conditions of the previous days to something more unsettled through the coming weekend.
"This will most likely see a band of rain reaching western areas of the UK on Saturday, then gradually and erratically working its way east across most of, if not all of the country through Sunday.
"This could bring some heavier rain in places, most likely the west, while eastern areas are likely to hang on to drier weather for longer. Low risk of some strong winds associated with this.
"Into next week trending more settled once more for many, although the northwest may see further rain and strong winds at times. Temperatures close to average throughout."
