Hundreds of Chat GPT users reported outages this afternoon according to the Downdetector website. Reported issues with the popular AI chatbot quickly adopted by millions of users after its launch appeared to begin rising at around 1.06pm BST, with all reported outages related to OpenAI's wildly popular ChatGPT chatbot, and none with its API.
More than 600 outages were reported between 1.13pm and 1.58pm, peaking at around 1.28pm before quickly declining back towards the normal outage tracking site's baseline level of reports, according to Downdetector. Reports appeared to be localised to the British Isles.
OpenAI has been approached for comment via email.
Separate outages were also reported earlier this month, with thousands reporting issues with the chatbot.
The problems, first reported at around 10am on June 10, initially impacted users in the United States and India, before affecting UK users too, according to reports.
Some users reportedly got an error message reading: "A network error occurred.
"Please check your connection and try again. If this issue persists please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com."
The software was created back in November 2022 and has swiftly become deeply integrated into people's daily lives.
The popular tool is used by millions of people all over the world for various tasks, including answering queries, composing and rewriting emails, and generating images.
It can also carry out other automated tasks for both personal and business use.
