The Elden Ring Nightreign servers are about to be taken offline, as developer FromSoftware releases yet another update for PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

While a new update packed with balance tweaks and gameplay upgrades is usually a good thing, this particular update comes with 3-hours of server downtime.

Indeed, according to a recent FromSoftware post on X, Elden Ring Nightreign will be taken offline for 3-hours at 9am BST on the morning of August 12. This means fans won't be able to play online multiplayer until midday.

"The Elden Ring Nightreign servers will undergo maintenance on August 12, 2025, to deploy Patch 1.02.1," reads a FromSoftware tweet.

"Maintenance will begin at 01:00 PDT | 10:00 CEST | 17:00 JST and will last for 3 hours on all platforms. Thank you for your patience."

While the update 1.02.1 patch notes are yet to be revealed, fans can expect some balance tweaks and bug fixes for the recently released two-player update.

Elden Ring Nightreign now lets players team up in groups of two for duo expeditions from the mission select screen.

The fan requested mode was absent at launch, as FromSoftware focused on three person gameplay and solo.

According to game director Junya Ishizaki, the lack of two-person multiplayer was something of an oversight.

"The simple answer is that this is simply something that was overlooked during development as just a two-player option, so we're very sorry about that," he said.

"As we said before, we set out to make this a multiplayer co-op game for three players, balanced for three players, so that was the main focus and it's at the core of Nightreign.

"Of course, I myself as a player understand that and often want times where I'm just playing myself, so this is something that we considered from the start. And so we did put a lot of effort into creating this experience that was playable for solo players in as much as the rules and new systems allowed."

Daily Express will update this article with the update 1.02.1 patch notes when they are revealed.
