We all suspected it might happen, but Rockstar Games has finally confirmed it: Grand Theft Auto 6 has been delayed.

It's the second time the open-world blockbuster has been delayed this year, having previously been pushed back until May 2026.

According to a statement by Rockstar Games, however, GTA 6 will now launch on November 19, 2026.

In a statement released by Rockstar Games, the studio confirmed that the game has been delayed in order to give developers more time to polish the game.

"Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026," reads a Rockstar statement.

"We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.

"We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City."

Grand Theft Auto 6 will take place in the state of Leonida, which is based on Florida.

Rockstar explains: "Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet."

The trailers have given fans a look some of the map locations as seen from the skies above. This includes locations based on the Florida Keys, as well as Miami beach and more.

The lead characters are named Jason and Lucia. The duo are said to be in the middle of a criminal conspiracy in the state of Leonida.

Other characters include Jason's friend Cal Hampton, Vice City "legend" Boobie Ike, wannabe music mogul Dre'Quan Priest, the musical pair of Real Dimez, bank robber Raul Bautista, and drug runner Brian Heder.
