Sony is gearing up to hold a big State of Play event on September 24, complete with gameplay footage from upcoming releases like Housemarque's Saros.
In addition to various first and third-party game reveals, Sony has also been tipped to announce at least one of the PlayStation Plus Essential games for October 2025.
In fact, it looks like the headline release may have leaked early, and it's probably the best PS Plus game of the year so far.
According to French site Dealabs, Alan Wake 2 will join the PS Plus Essentials line-up on October 7.
The Remedy survival horror game sees players switch between two characters, including FBI agent Saga Anderson, who arrives in the Pacific Northwest town of Bright Falls in a bid to solve a series of murders.
"Fuelled by the horror story, supernatural darkness invades Bright Falls, corrupting the locals and threatening the loved ones of both Anderson and Wake," Remedy explains.
"Light is their weapon-and their safe haven - against the darkness they face. Trapped in a sinister horror story where there are only victims and monsters, can they break out to be the heroes they need to be?"
The title won multiple game of the year awards when it launched back in 2023, earning praise for its gameplay, visuals and atmosphere.
As for the other games coming to PS Plus in October, Sony could make the announcement during the State of Play even on September 24.
If the announcement doesn't take place during State of Play, then it's likely to happen on the afternoon of October 1. The games should be available to download and play from October 7.
This gives subscribers another couple of weeks to redeem the current batch of games, which include Psychonauts 2.
The highly-rated 3D platform game is joined by first-person puzzle game Viewfinder, as well as the superb Stardew Valley.
With an 'Overwhelmingly Positive' rating on Steam, Stardew Valley sees players take over the family farm.
In addition to performing tasks like planting crops, milking cows and collecting eggs, the game also features a social element, where players attempt to befriend the locals and revamp the community centre.
