KL Rahul has long been admired for his composure, a stylish wicketkeeper-batter who rarely lets emotion take over, even in the tensest moments. Yet behind that calm exterior lies a more human side, one that Rahul himself admits is not always as tranquil as it seems.
In a candid conversation on a YouTube podcast, KL Rahul revealed that while people often perceive him as one of the calmest players on the field, that image isn’t entirely true. He laughed while saying that among ten people, he might be one or two of the calmer ones but he does lose his temper sometimes and those moments usually make their way to social media.
KL Rahul mentioned that when such clips go viral, he ends up getting a call from his mother. “I do get angry; I just hide it well,” he said, adding with a grin that his frustration occasionally slips out, especially during matches. The batter joked that one of those moments might have involved teammate Ravi Bishnoi, hinting that even calm cricketers have their breaking points.

The particular video being discussed came from KL Rahul’s time as captain of Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. Since then, Rahul has parted ways with the team and has been signed by Delhi Capitals for a massive Rs 14 crore ahead of the next season.
Recently, KL Rahul represented India in the three-match ODI series against Australia, where he scored 38 and 11 in the first two matches but didn’t get a chance to bat in the third.
During the same podcast, KL Rahul was also shown a viral clip from the 2023 ODI World Cup match against Sri Lanka, where his amusing facial expression caught everyone’s attention. Explaining the story behind it, Rahul said that he was looking at fielding coach T. Dilip, gesturing that he deserved the “best fielder” medal for his catching performance in the game. He humorously recalled telling himself that he deserved a medal for his three catches.
Through all the jokes and honesty, KL Rahul’s reflections offered a glimpse into the person behind the player, someone who balances intense passion with quiet restraint, all while learning to laugh at his own viral moments.
