Bhopal: The Congress state unit has called a rally in Bhind on Sept 11 to protest against what it termed "police atrocities" on journalists, with party state chief Jitu Patwari and former CM Digvijaya Singh set to lead the charge.
In a statement, the party alleged that two media persons were assaulted by police recently.
"Police were unhappy with their string of reports on illegal mining of sand in Chambal and wished to teach them a lesson. They were forewarned by police that they might act against them but they refused to stop writing on illegal mining. Not very long ago, a video had gone viral in which more than a dozen media persons were seen in the SP office only wearing undergarments. Later, police forced them to state in a video that they have settled all the issues with police," it stated.
