NEET PG 2025 transparency plea: SC directs NBEMS to submit detailed response; grants 2 weeks

Send Push
The Supreme Court of India (SC) on September 26, 2025, heard the ongoing plea concerning transparency in the NEET PG 2025 examination process. The plea challenges the National Board of Examination for Medical Sciences (NBEMS) over the limited disclosure of information related to question papers, answer keys, and candidate responses.

During the hearing, the apex court directed NBEMS to file a detailed response within two weeks. The matter, which has been adjourned several times this month, will now be taken up after NBEMS submits its reply.

Plea challenges NBEMS corrective notice
The plea was filed after NBEMS issued a corrective notice stating that since the order of questions and options was shuffled for each candidate, the answer key, question ID numbers, and response sheets would only be released as per the master set of the question paper. Petitioners argue that this restricts their ability to verify answers or challenge discrepancies in the evaluation process.

The plea further emphasises that transparency in the release of answer keys and response sheets is essential to ensure fairness in such a significant national-level examination. According to the petition, this information is necessary for candidates to raise valid objections and confirm the accuracy of their results.

SC questions low number of objections
During the proceedings, SC also raised a key point regarding the number of objections. The bench questioned why only a few students had come forward with grievances when over 2 lakh candidates had appeared for the NEET PG 2025 exam. This issue was discussed in the context of understanding whether the problem was systemic or isolated.

NBEMS releases withheld result lot 2
Meanwhile, NBEMS has declared the withheld result for NEET PG 2025 lot 2. The result is now available on the official website, natboard.edu.in. The official result notice stated that candidates whose results were previously withheld can now check their status online.

No update on MCC counselling schedule
As of now, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has not released the counselling schedule for NEET PG 2025. Candidates aspiring for admission to MD, MS, and other postgraduate medical courses are awaiting further updates from the MCC regarding the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling process.

Earlier in August, SC had directed NBEMS to conduct NEET PG 2025 in a single shift to avoid any arbitrariness in evaluation. Despite these directions, multiple issues around transparency remain unresolved.
