NEW DELHI: Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera has been served a notice on Tuesday by the New Delhi electoral registration officer (ERO) for being registered as a voter in two different constituencies in Delhi under two separate EPIC numbers.

"It has been brought to my notice that you have got your name registered in the electoral roll of more than one constituency," the office of the New Delhi ERO said in its notice.

The notice stated that being registered in more than one constituency is a penal offence under the Representation of People Act , 1950. It further said, "You are therefore, directed to show cause as to why action should not be taken against you under said Act."

The development came hours after BJP leader Amit Malviya alleged that Khera holds two active voter ID cards. Khera denied the allegation and questioned the Election Commission’s handling of electoral rolls.

This comes a day after Rahul Gandhi said his party will soon come out with a "hydrogen bomb" of revelations about "vote chori" and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be able to show his face to the country afterwards.
