NEW DELHI: The Delhi airport authority said that flight operations may be impacted due to adverse weather conditions in the national capital on Tuesday.
The airport authority in a statement said that, "Due to inclement weather conditions in Delhi, flight operations at Delhi Airport may be impacted."
It further added that on-ground teams are working to ensure a smooth passenger experience and advised flyers to consider an alternative mode of transport, including the Delhi metro , to get to the airport.
"Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information," it added.
The statement from the airport authority came after heavy rain lashed several parts of Delhi on Tuesday. The darkened skies surprised many commuters and others. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued yellow and orange alerts for Delhi. IMD predicted moderate rainfall accompanied by light thunderstorms and lightning.
Light rain during the day was predicted due to the impact of a Western Disturbance. The region was affected as Delhi woke up to a wet morning on Tuesday, recording the temperature at 21 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees below normal.
The AQI falls in the satisfactory category according to the Central Pollution Control Board , which reported the air quality index (AQI) at 68 at 9 am.
