Nepal youth protest against social media ban, 16 dead in clashes

Thousands of young Nepal nationals filled the streets of Kathmandu to protest against the government's ban on 26 popular social media platforms. The rallies turned violent, leaving 16 protesters dead and over 40 injured. Demonstrators accused leaders of corruption and demanded freedom of expression, as police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse crowds. Read full story

SC tells EC to consider Aadhaar as valid ID document

The Supreme Court directed the Election Commission to accept Aadhaar as the 12th valid identity proof for Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The court added that Aadhaar can prove identity, not citizenship, and urged the EC to verify authenticity. As per the EC’s schedule, the final electoral roll will be out on September 30. Two militants killed in Kulgam encounter, JCO injured

Security forces killed two terrorists in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday. The clash began in Guddar forest after militants opened fire during a search operation. A junior commissioned officer of the Army was injured in the gunfight. The joint operation by the Army, CRPF and J&K Police is still underway. Read full story

Five killed after gunmen attack bus in Jerusalem

At least five people were killed and 12 injured when gunmen opened fire at a bus stop in north Jerusalem. Witnesses said attackers also boarded a crowded bus and fired inside. Israeli police confirmed two assailants were “neutralised” shortly after the assault. Hundreds of Israeli security personnel rushed to the area to search for additional attackers or explosives. BJP slams opposition VP pick over meeting Lalu Prasad

BJP attacked opposition’s vice-presidential nominee Sudarshan Reddy, accusing him of hypocrisy for meeting fodder scam convict and RJD chief Lalu Prasad. Party leaders argued that a retired Supreme Court judge seeking votes to “save the soul of the nation” should not be seen with a convicted politician. The criticism comes a day before the VP polls.
