SRINAGAR: J&K Police arrested Wednesday a Kulgam resident suspected of helping the Pakistan-backed terrorists responsible for 26 deaths in the April 22 attack targeting tourists in Pahalgam.
Mohammad Kataria, accused of providing "logistical assistance" to the terrorists, was identified as a suspect soon after security forces gunned down the trio who carried out the Pahalgam attack, a police officer said.
The operation at Dachigam, a forested area on the outskirts of Srinagar, also led security forces to a hideout filled with weapons, equipment and incriminating material.
"The investigation trail led us to Kataria. He was taken into custody following a detailed forensic examination of the seized weapons and equipment," the officer said.
