The United States arrested another "illegal" Indian for causing a multi-vehicle crash with his 18-wheeler and critically injuring a five-year-old girl and her father last year. The department of homeland secretary blasted California governor Gavin Newsom for issuing Singh an "illegal alien" a commercial driver’s license .
Partap Singh was arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) last month and will remain in their custody while his immigration case is processed.
"This is sadly another example of Gavin Newsom’s California Department of Motor Vehicles issuing an illegal alien a Commercial Driver’s License. How many more innocent people must become victims before Gavin Newsom stops playing games with American lives? DHS is working around the clock to remove dangerous aliens—like Singh—who have no right to be in the US,” the statement quoted secretary Kristi Noem saying.
“Dalilah Coleman’s life was forever changed when an illegal alien driving an 18-wheeler slammed into her and her family. This tragedy was entirely preventable,” she said.
The statement further claimed that Singh entered the States illegally through the southern border in October 2022 and was subsequently "released into the country by the Biden administration."
"Singh illegally crossed the southern border in October 2022—and was RELEASED into the country by the Biden administration," it said.
2nd case this year
This marks the second case involving an Indian national living illegally in the US who was arrested for causing a fatal accident while driving a commercial vehicle.
In August, Harjinder Singh was charged with three counts of vehicular homicide after blocking all lanes on a Florida highway with his 18-wheeler during an attempted illegal U-turn, which led to the instant deaths of three people.
Authorities revealed that Singh had obtained a commercial driver’s license in California despite having no legal status in the US.
Following the deadly incident, the department of homeland security announced an immediate pause on the issuance of worker visas for commercial truck drivers.
